first, i wouldnt compare him to earl anthony when he has a 160 average. 2nd, idk if you are familiar with sport shot oil patterns. if not, then get familiar with them. sport shots are what we bowl on during college tournaments. if you are at an alley that you kno the owners, mechanics well, then ask them to put down a sport shot to practice on. if not, then a lot of practice over the summer because a 160 average well not go very far on a college team. 160 average on a house shot will equal up to about a 130-140 on a sport shot and that will not make most teams. tournaments and leagues are a good way to get experience. i would definitely invest on some form of coaching. as far as recruiting, only about 10 teams in the country give out scholarships to men. depending on how good the team is depends on if there are tryouts. if you are looking at west texas AM, there will definitely be tryouts. ive only seen west texas at about 3 tournaments, but they are a solid team. to make the team, i would think the coach expects at least a 170-175 average. again, on a sport shot. you can look on this site to look at all the colleges in texas that have teams.

also, to find out more information on sport shots, go to bowl.com and go to the collegiate or sport bowling tabs at the top of the page. good luck

Hi, thanks for replying. I was not comparing his game/average to EA, I was comparing his throw. I don't think I was clear.

He is familiar with the oil patterns, but it's limited. I appreciate the pointers tho. Good thing he has another year of practice! For only bowling 6 months, I thought 160 was pretty good. Guess I'm just biased.

We'll keep practicing!

Give him a small reminder that he needs to ensure he is a student first and a bowler second.
